• hyperrealism is a reality that’s more real than real, it is more enhanced to the point our desires are more than reality. 
• simulacra - a representation of a person or thing
• Simulation - a representation of something that replaces that is actually being presented.
• Fake news is a type of journalism or propaganda that consists of deliberate misinformation spread via traditional print and broadcast news media.

why the Truman show is postmodern 

1. is a simulation by having every resident apart from Turman himself having roles to play and to follow, he is living not in life but the creators vision of a hyperrealism that is a blend of the real which is Truman and the fiction which is everyone else. 
2. it is Pastiche as it takes 50s and 60s American culture and controls it with 90s technology. It  blends the genres of comedy, drama and the suspense of horror/thriller films. 
3. The film is a metafiction, for it is multiple realities within a huge reality a film about actors acting. 
4. is a representation of  Fake news in america that can be instilled into the whole plot of the truman show as he is controlled by the creators and the actors that revolve around putting on a show for the audience.
5. it breaks the fourth wall for the film  by intelligent product placement and the introduction of commercials.

• Metafiction - a fiction about fiction and breaks the tradition of realism. It is not the same as meta narrative they are both different.  
• Intertextuality - is the interrelated between text (giving Easter eggs to deadicated fans)
• Mise-en-abysm - a deconstruction to describe the intertextual nature of laugnage and takes us out of reality 
• The 4th Wall - is the idea that a glass of wall is in front of the actors and audience breaks so that can interact with each other

 why Dancer In The Dark is postmodern

1.  Dancer in the Dark is Meta fiction by deals with the conflict between fantasy and reality. this is highlighted by Selma’s musical daydreams by using colors to bright and exaggerated symbolizing her fantasy, whilst reality is painted in brown and grey colors. 
2. It is fragmented by being broken up into parts that question the viewer in what they are actually watching, is it a musical? or a indie film? for the way it is weird camera angles and close ups.
3.  it is mise-en-abyme by  Selma's day dreams of hearing the hum of factory machinery and combine into an orchestra of sounds that makes the musical aspects for the viewer to enjoy.
4. Pastiche - by using songs from The Sound of Music like the song My Favorite Things, So Long, Farewell and Climb Every Mountain, then take inspiration from other musicals for the dance and song numbers.
5. It is self reflexive by acknowledges the music is artificial and doesn’t seem fit  into the typical musical film the viewers are use to,

Binary opposition - the binary opposition is a terms or concepts that are opposite in meaning.
examples include

Deconstruction - attempts to undo logical contradictions and overturn rigid conceptual oppositions while releasing new concepts that cant be included in the old system.

Différance - an attempt to conjoin the differing aspects involved in arche-writing, a term that plays upon the distinction between the audible and the written.

Derrida - finds the opposition between speech and writing to establish speech as the means of giving presence to the world, while writing is deemed derivative and inferior.

Reinscribe - rename in a new stronger form or context.

Cognitive dissonance - Having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes relating to behavioral decisions change.

Why is Moulin Rouge postmodern.

The films multiculturalism by including the city of Paris as well as India culture in the play at the end with the set, music and closing design.

It is Eurocehtricism for where the film is set, it is in Paris with some scenes cutting to the city of love and showing the Eiffel Tower.

The main 2 men the duke and Christian are phallocentic for both show there ideas and beliefs in the film where one is for love and that without it what's the point in doing anything whilst the other is for pure lust and wanting santian for himself.

All the women show same form of Feminism in the film, each are work hard and alongside most od the men.  Satine also prove she can be equal in the spectacular, spectacular song by singing and dance with the men showing that if they can do it so can i.

The film is Non-linear narrative is A person who was involved in the past events is telling the audience the story he going through Christian story of falling in love with Satine. it goes back and forth form Christian writing his experience to what happened in his life to the screenplay that Christian wrote.

Sherrie Levine is a photographer and conceptual artist who is known for taking a male artist and re-taking the picture with the same woman and some wooden background. the purpose for this photo was to discuss the notion of authenticity and originality.

5 reasons why is Scream postmodern 

1. the film is a horror genre that has many subdivision, they discuss the different aspects of a slasher film from psychological horror and gothic horror cinema. 
2. its iconic for although they make fun of the horror trope in classic slasher films and then do the same thing afterwards, for example when Sidney says that it is insulting when a female in a slasher film runs upstairs, she herself runs upstairs from the killer
3. the film is a parody of a horror film, the characters poke fun at at the problems and rules that horror films have but making it funny when the things that they are poking fun at happens to them 
4.  the film is pastiche by using other slasher film styles like Friday the 13th and Halloween it becomes its a fun film reminding the viewers what makes these films classics 
5. the film is avant garde for when it first come out in cinemas slasher film were made too much and became boring, but when scream came out it felt like a new idea by taking the slasher genre and making fun of it.

• axiomatic - something that is self-evident
•  metanarrative - a narrative account that explores the idea of storytelling, often by bringing attention to its artificiality
• essentialism - that everyone enjoys and is perfect 
• utopian - a place that is perfect and beautiful 
• dystopian - an imagined place in which everything is unpleasant or bad and horrible to live in

why is Mulholland Drive postmodern

1. The utopia that Betty has about LA and being in the movie as being a glamorous life style as a perfect way of living 
2. Some scenes feel disconnected with other eg cutting from Rita and Betty to an ass director to a shooter who set up the car crush with a friend
3. There is a Hollywood motif were it shows different aspects of Hollywood a dreamer, someone losing everything they and mobster type big guys hunting down someone 
4. The feels fragmented in tone and style for there are different elements like the 1960's style music and the dark creepiness from the stage performance that Betty and Rita watch
5. the unreliable narrator in this film is Betty, also known as Diana. for when Betty comes to la and gives an amazing performance it seem to perfect and cheesy, until later on when we discover that it might be an illustration created by Diana.

 The Enlightenment Project is the ideas that was debated by philosophers and the scientific communities in the enlightened parts of the world. How Modernity  relate to the  Enlightenment project is  The idea is that true reason and science everyone can discover true knowledge and the process of a better society.

5 reasons why Inception is postmodern

1.  Inception has a transparent idea about dreams for example the mirror scene is a reference to Citizen Kane giving the idea of a dream within a dream
2.   Inception is hyperreality for when they are in dreams and they start me up like building is on top of which other curves and bending to roads it gives this hyper reality able to bend structure and architecture making the audience feel that it is a dream
3.  It is intertextuality for it explanation of the infinite stairs this expands that anything in the dream can be possible with creativity 
4. It is pastiche  for it many different genres all rolled into one helping us understand the sci-fi action and adventure elements in the film showing the audience how this is all possible. 
5. The simulacra  in the film is that each level of subconscion is a simulation of the previous level as well as limbo being the furthest point from reality.
